Capitalism in Question

The Academy of Management's vision statement says that they aim "to inspire and enable a better world through our scholarship and teaching about management and organizations."

The 2013 AOM Annual Meeting theme further states that: "The recent economic and financial crises, austerity, and unemployment, and the emergence of many economic, social, and environmental protest movements around the world have put back on the agenda some big questions about this vision: What kind of economic system would this better world be built on? Would it be a capitalist one? If so, what kind of capitalism? If not, what are the alternatives?"

The Humanistic Management Center is very happy to see this agenda emerging so strongly within the Academy of Management for precisely these are the questions that the Humanistic Management Center is focused on.

The 2013 Annual Meeting will take place in early August in Orlando, Florida and we will update this page as our involvement in the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management evolves.
