Five Conceptual Pillars for Building Extraordinary Organizations
What Makes Organizations Great?
The main argument in this presentation is that organizations that achieve truly extraordinary results are focused on their people and the benefit they bring to all of their stakeholders.
This presentation introduces five conceptual pillars and establishes a relationship between them. Those five conceptual pillars are purpose, legitimacy, passion, integrity and love:
- Firstly great organizations are purpose driven. They can relate their activities to a bigger picture and know how they contribute to a higher purpose. To ensure their purpose as well as the means deployed to reach it are aligned to societal expectations, great organizations additionally seek public legitimacy.
- Great organizations work with passion, they are deeply committed to what they do. However passion can also make us blind for side effects we cause and hence great organizations are passionate with integrity. They say what they do and do what they say in the pursuit of their purpose.
- Lastly, great organizations act with love. The people in great organizations love what they do, the love who they do it with and love who they do it for.
