IKEA 2016 Swiss Stakeholder Day
For the second year the Humanistic Management Center received the mandate to support Swedish furniture company IKEA with their stakeholder engagement activities in the Swiss market. The mandate included to support the design and delivery of the 2016 IKEA Switzerland Stakeholder Day on March 18th.
The day was split into two parts. The morning was reserved for a workshop with a select group of experts on the topic of Expanding the Life Span of Furniture. In the afternoon, the 2016 IKEA Stakeholder Forum took place in a much bigger group focusing on introducing and discussing some of IKEAs initiatives towards a circular economy as well as the results from the morning workshop.
- Workshop: The topic of this workshop was Expanding the Life Span of Furniture and only a limited number of stakeholders participated to allow for a richer discussion based on the expertise of the invitees. A roughly equal number on IKEA coworkers was present also to cover the main business areas and ensure that concrete measures for future collaboration could be discussed.
- Forum: The active and ongoing engagement with stakeholders plays a central role in IKEAs efforts to enhance its sustainability performance. The feedback that was received on the previous Forum gave confidence that the 2016 Stakeholder Forum would provide a great opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and to welcome new participants that seek to engage in constructive dialogue on sustainable business conduct. The Forum provides a platform for exchange and an opportunity to learn with and from one another. The topical focus of this Forum was the Circular Economy and we were glad to see both, high level representation of Government, NGOs, CSOs, customers and suppliers as well as executives from IKEA at group level and from the Swiss market.
