The theme of Impact Investing has gained substantial momentum in both, finance and social entrepreneurship communities over recent years. In addition student demand for course offers as well as supervision of theses on Impact Investing has risen steeply. The University of St. Gallen is actively responding to this demand by offering courses on related topics.
This course, titled Impact Investing: Redefining the Meaning of Return delivered by the HMC represents one of these offers and took place in March and April 2016 at Master level in the contextual study program of the University.
To complement and consolidate classroom based learning, the group had the opportunity to meet and discuss with Impact Investing practitioners that have a long standing experience and deep understanding of the impact investing industry. Hosted by LGT Venture Philanthropy, Natija Dolic of LGT Venture Philanthropy presented their Impact Investing activities before Jaume Iglésies of UBS Values Based Investing presented the bank's impact investing offers as well as the key drivers for further enhancing such offers at UBS. The presentations were followed by a Q&A and discussion that demonstrated, once again, the keen interest of the student community in the impact investing space, also with a clear view to career opportunities in social finance, venture philanthropy or impact investing. The event closed with a round of feedback and reflections on the overall course and an informal gathering in a lakeside bar on the shores of lake Zurich.
